Culinary Institute of the Carolinas Chef Alan

The Equus Club culinary staff will be selected from the top graduates of the Culinary Institute of the Carolinas. These professional chefs will take great pride in creating menus that will surprise, astound, and impress the most discriminating foodies. The Equus Club will provide an opportunity for current students of the Culinary Institute of the Carolinas/Greenville Technical College to be “educated” in our kitchen and to develop their skills. They will team up with our culinary staff to design the “most fun & flavorful cooking classes in the South” for our members (four cooking classes each weekend – “Learn to Cook. Like a Pro. From a Pro”).

Winemaker Dinners

Spring, Summer, Fall, and Winter. Please join us four times a year for a magical wine and culinary event. Our winemaking team will be guiding our dinner guests through a five-course dinner featuring Wine Spectator “Top 100 Wines in the World” wines. The Equus culinary staff and visiting celebrity chefs will prepare a custom menu each season to accompany and complement each wine selection throughout the evening. It is an event not to be missed!

Special Menus

The chefs from the Equus Culinary Center paired with the chefs from our Visiting Chefs Program will bring creativity and experience to every dining experience. Our theme is Southern comfort food but with a twist. Experience the lobster mac & cheese recipe from Hall’s Chophouse in Charleston and compare it to Asheville’s Posana Cafe rendition. Which Southern Living brownie recipe do you like better – “Death by Caramel Bars” or “Caramel Pecan Brownies”? The crowning culinary experiences will occur in our specially designed outdoor grilling stations where everything under the sun from large spit roasting favorites to steaks will be grilled to perfection.

Cooking Classes

The Equus “team of chefs” will conduct four weekly cooking classes in our professional teaching kitchen for our members to learn to cook like a pro from a pro. Great cooking isn’t all about recipes – it’s also about techniques. Our chefs will show our members how to create delicious dishes all year long. From Thai to North Carolina barbecue, you can explore the world of cuisines and disciplines. Learn, Eat, Laugh…and we’ll take care of the dishes.

Food, Wine & Party Events

Six times a year we will go overboard and put on an all day food, wine, music and party extravaganza that you, your guests and family will talk about for months. The top culinary experts in the South will compete against each other to win your approval in our themed events – “BBQ & Zin”, “Paella & Pinot”, “Shrimpfest”, and the “Cajun Cookout”. We will also initiate an annual Iron Chef’s competition between the top chefs in Charleston versus Greenville’s top chefs. Our annual fund raising event to assist local charities will be our “Jackson Pollock Painting Party” so release your inner artist and show the world your hidden artistic talents.

Equus Organic Garden

Think “farm to table”. The Equus Organic Garden will provide our culinary program with the freshest farm products to insure that you will receive an unparalleled dining experience every time you visit the club.
